Although it looks as if this would offer protection, only a few minutes of actual use prove otherwise. The top is oversized to allow one of the 2 included mics to remain attached, however, if you're using this for field recording, you would probably not want that.
The included mics are too fragile and not ideal for field recording. They would not hold up under even minimal use in this configuration. The clear top is great until you go outside. Then, glare from the sun makes the H6's display unreadable.
The sides open to allow access to the Zoom H6's XLR connectors but the straps of the case impede a clear connection. This means the elastic straps must be forced out of the way, stretched more then needed and put undue pressure on the XLR connections. That's just dumb. Didn't the designers check for this?
